Elementary Dismissal Procedure

Please see this note from Mrs. Parsons regarding bus dismissal procedures.

As a reminder of our current dismissal procedures:

Students walking home will be dismissed at 3:43 p.m., and will use the cross walks to start their route home.

Bus students will be dismissed from class at 3:43 p.m., and be escorted to the busses.

Students being picked up by parents by car will be dismissed at 3:45 p.m. Parents will need to pick their student up on Wakefield Street, heading south toward the school, before the stop sign. When the student is in the car, parents should turn and go east on Fifth Street. Students will not be allowed to cross the street. Parents, in a vehicle, will need to be on Wakefield Street in order to pick up their student. Please refrain from parking along Wakefield St. to pick up your child by foot; we need this area to stay open to keep cars moving.

Over the last few months, we have noticed that many parents are opting to pick their children up by foot, rather than join the car line. If you choose to pick your student up by foot, in front of the school, we ask that you use the crosswalk closest to the buses, behind the traffic cones. This will make sure you and your child will be visible to all vehicles, especially in the snow (drifts and piles), and keep you out of the moving car line. Our staff will be out to help guide you to the right crosswalk area. Also, we will classify these students as “walkers”, and they will be dismissed a little earlier to avoid car traffic. If you plan to pick up students by foot, please let your child know that they will be in the “walker” group.
