Planned Modification to Mask Requirements - Friday, April 23rd
April 13, 2021
LCC Students and Families,
Please note the following planned modifications to mask requirements for students, staff and visitors to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School campuses and events. Friday, April 23rd will be the final day for universal mask requirements on LCC School campuses. Individuals may still choose to personally wear a mask or face covering at any time. The school will continue to provide social distancing as space permits, and the current school cafeteria modifications will remain in effect through the end of the school year.
While we recognize that there remains a risk of spread within our communities, the infection rates in our health district region continue to be at reduced, steady levels. Additionally, the far majority of our faculty and staff will be considered fully vaccinated as of Friday, April 23rd, reducing concerns for widespread staff absence and substitute shortages.
It is important to note that this policy change does not end state-established isolation and quarantine rules. Nebraska’s current Directed Health Measure (DHM) continues to require self-quarantine and/or self-monitoring periods when an individual has been in close contact with someone testing positive for Covid-19.
Masks will remain to be required and worn by students, staff and visitors in specific situations and under certain conditions, which include but not limited to: (1) while on any district transportation vehicle (per federal order), (2) when required on field trips by location guidelines, and (3) when students, staff or visitors present with symptoms of illness.
LCC School reserves the option of reinstating the mask requirement, should there be an outbreak of coronavirus cases, sudden spikes, or increased positivity rates.
Thank you for your ongoing support and consideration.
Jeremy Christiansen, Superintendent
