Julie Kvols - Paraprofessional High School

Current LCC School head volleyball coach, Julie Kvols, will be transitioning to an expanded role within the school system.  Julie will be joining the LCC High School staff as a paraprofessional this school year.  Mrs. Kvols, a Laurel native and Laurel-Concord alum, has a nursing degree from Northeast Community College.  She and her husband, Nick, live in Laurel with their three children, Carter (11th grade), Carlie (8th grade) and Claire (2nd grade).  

Janie Gullikson - Paraprofessional Middle School

Janie Gullikson will be joining our Middle School staff as a paraprofessional.  Janie spent much of her childhood in Yankton, SD as well as Hartington, NE.  She graduated from Hartington-Newcastle Public School and still calls Hartington home.  Janie and her husband, Jacob Gothier, stay busy chasing after their 18 month old son, Phineas.  Be sure to ask Janie about her love of giraffes and, of course, the color yellow!

Michelle Klug - Paraprofessional Elementary/PreK

Mrs. Klug brings many years of experience as a private in-home childcare provider to LCC Elementary School where she will serve as a paraprofessional with the Preschool program. Michelle is a graduate of both Stanton High School and Northeast Community College, where she earned an Associates of Arts degree in Physical Education and Recreation). Mrs. Klug lives in Wynot, NE, where she and her husband, Michael, are busy raising their three children - Blakc (13), Emmett (8), and Hayden (4), along with their corgi, Mack, and 5 chickens - Sunny, Brownie, Smokey, George Washington, and Duck!

Kathy McKillip - Nutrition Services

LCC School welcomes Kathy McKillip for the 2022-2023 school year!  Kathy is joining our Nutrition Services team at the Laurel campus.  Originally from Minden, NE, Kathy graduated from Valley High School (Valley, NE) and attended both John F Kennedy College in Wahoo, NE and the Omaha Police Academy (Omaha, NE).  Mrs. McKillip has been retired after a distinguished 40-year career in law enforcement spanning numerous cities and agencies throughout Nebraska.  She is an empty-nester with three grown children - Minden Malone and Jason McKillip (Laurel) and Tico Grady (LaVista, NE).  Kathy could be considered an extreme animal lover as she currently raises two dogs, a cat and four parakeets!  

Tyrel Whalen - One Act Play Production Assistant Director

Tyrel is a 2009 graduate of Laurel-Concord High School. He was an active member of One-Acts, Speech, Show Choir, and FFA, including participation as part of two State Championships and one Runner Up in One-Acts. Mr. Whalen pursued an Associate of Arts Degree in Theater from Northeast Community College where he took part in 13 productions, as well as other aspects of theater including directing, producing and other technical jobs to complete a production.  Tyrel is employed by the State of Nebraska Department of Transportation. He is excited to join the One-Act group and is committed to helping bring championship trophies back to LCC!

Kenny Stark - Transportation Services

A familiar and friendly face in the LCC School community, Kenny Stark joins our Transportation Services team as a bus driver for daily, activity and shuttle routes.  Mr. Stark recently retired from his career with the US Postal Service.  He has previously supported LCC School as a substitute driver and is excited to transition into a more permanent role.  LCC is the place to be!

Jaime Mayhew - Paraprofessional High School

Originally from Beatrice, NE, Jaime Mayhew and her family moved to Wayne, NE in 2013, where she attended and graduated from high school.  Jaime and her husband, Alex Sullivan, live together in Laurel and are raising their two children, Zayne (2 years) and Weston (3 months).  While Mrs. Mayhew aspired to be a pilot when she was younger, she now studies and is majoring in Psychology through Purdue University Global.  Jaime will serve in the role of paraprofessional at LCC High School.  

Larissa Armitage - Paraprofessional Elementary

Larissa Armitage joins the LCC Elementary team as a paraprofessional having had recent experience working in this same role for Norfolk Public Schools.  Ms. Armitage hails from Norfolk where she graduated from Norfolk Senior High.  She and her significant other, Lane Bowers, now live in rural Laurel, with their children Lee (2 years) and Cora (4 months).  When not busy as a mom, Larissa enjoys being creative using a Cricut to design shirts and car decals. 

Deana Leonard - Bright Horizons Program Director

A familiar face to the LCC community, Deana Leonard is excited to assume the role of Program Director for Bright Horizons, an expanded learning opportunity program offering both before and after school care for LCC students.  Mrs. Leonard and her husband, Mark (LCC Middle School Principal), have lived in Laurel with their family the past two years.  Deana has been employed by LCC School as a paraprofessional during that time.  Originally from Howells, NE, Deana is traveled and worldly, having spent a summer in Taipei, Taiwan as a youth counselor for Camp Adventure!

Vanessa Schurman - Bright Horizons Program Assistant Director

A self-proclaimed “cat lady,” Vanessa Schurman will serve as an Assistant Director for the new Bright Horizons before and after school program!  In addition to Vanessa’s three orange cats - Max, Moxie and Honeybee - she and her husband Tyler Schurman (an LCC Alum) live in Laurel.  Mrs. Schurman is currently enrolled at Wayne State College and is seeking a degree in secondary Social Science education.  Vanessa grew up in Bellevue, NE and graduated from Bellevue East High School.  Go Chieftains!

Matt Hoenk - Assistant Volleyball Coach

Matt Hoenk joins the LCC Volleyball team as an Assistant Coach. He is a Senior at Wayne State College and is pursuing a degree in Health and Physical Education. He was a member of the men’s volleyball club team for Wayne State the last 2 years as an outside hitter! Before attending Wayne State College he graduated from Scotus where he would coach 2 seasons of soccer. When he was in High School he participated in Tennis, Wrestling, and Soccer where he gained his passion for competition!

Kayla Nordhues - Paraprofessional Middle School

A Randolph, NE native, Kayla Nordhues joins the LCC Middle School staff as a paraprofessional.  She comes from a large family of six kids and has had valuable experience working at Cardinal Kids Learning Center.  Ms. Nordhues has previously attended Northeast Community College and has plans to complete her degree in Early Childhood Education.  Welcome Kayla


 

Katlyn Jacobsen - Paraprofessional Elementary School

Though originally from Hubbard, Nebraska, Katlyn Jacobsen now calls Allen, NE home, along with her husband, Shelby, and their 3 year old son, Hayes.  Katlyn has joined the LCC Elementary School team as a paraprofessional.  She loves spending time outdoors with her family, including their two dogs - Gracie and Maverick.  While Katlyn grew up as an only child, she has a close knit extended family.
