National FFA

This past week the FFA chapter officers traveled to Indianapolis to attend the 98th National FFA Convention. During the convention the students got the opportunity to learn more about agricultural education and future opportunities. The national expo center provided many booths with agricultural schooling or companies. They also attended group sessions in Lucas Oil Stadium with motivational keynote speakers including:A’ric Jackson, who talked about not being scared to get out of your comfort zone in order to grow, and Coach Kiah talked about not being ashamed of who you are: to do you! The students also attended leadership workshops going over topics such as knowing your personal values to become successful. There also were many National contests that FFA members could watch; therefore, the group also participated in watching Parliamentary Procedure to help prepare them for future contests. Lastly they attend two tours in the area including Hummel Livestock and Hunter’s Honey Farm. Hummel Livestock located in Cadbury, Illinois showed their livestock operation with show goats, dogs, and a few species of exotic animals. In Martinsville, Indiana was Hunter’s Honey Farm and the officers toured the honey facilities and learned more about the production of honey.
