The Spirit Club chose the theme “Home Sweet Homecoming” for this year’s Homecoming festivities. LCC students kicked off the week by decorating a hallway in the school. Later that night, a bonfire and pep rally were held on Sunday evening. The fall sports participants were announced, and the audience watched as each class competed in games such as tug-of-war, balloon pop, musical chairs, and more.
The Homecoming Court included, boys: Talon Carson, Cade Johnson, Ian Sohler, Kyle Rasmussen, and Tanner Thompson, and girls: Boston Brown, Kaida Eriksen, Hattie McCorkindale, Carlie Kvols, and Rena Rasmussen. The Mister and Mistress of Ceremonies were Paul Allison and Faith Galvin. The junior attendants were Luke Erwin and Tae Settje, and the crown bearers were Bruin Jones and Oakley Hoeppner.
Monday’s theme was “Make Yourself at Home,” allowing students to wear their pajamas to class. The winners of Monday’s dress-up were Turner Thompson and Foster Stone. Tuesday’s theme was “Home on the Range,” and students dressed in country attire. Vaughn Sellhorst and Stella Graham were named the winners. The golf team also competed at the home course, where Laurel took the victory.
Wednesday’s theme was “Home Sweet Homecoming,” where students dressed as Adam Sandler. Ava Christensen and James Recob won Wednesday’s dress-up competition. Thursday’s theme was “Home of the Brave,” with Luke Erwin and Taylor Hansen named the winners. The cross country team began its season in Hartington, with the girls earning runner-up. The volleyball team also competed in a triangular against West Holt and Battle Creek. They earned a victory over West Holt and put up a strong fight against Battle Creek.
Friday’s theme was “Home of the Bears,” with students wearing orange and black to show their school spirit. The golf team was back in action, with Harper Bruning taking first place at the meet. Everyone showed school spirit, and there was no official dress-up winner on Friday.
Friday was a fun-filled day for students. Members of Spirit Club spent the day decorating the Legacy Gym for the Homecoming Dance. Students also had the opportunity to decorate their floats for the parade before getting out of school. The football team finished the week with a Homecoming victory over their opponent, 36–24. Rena Rasmussen and Tanner Thompson were crowned Homecoming Queen and King. The week concluded with a fun-filled night of dancing and celebration.
