On Tuesday, March 18th, the LCC Jazz Band competed in the Coyote Jazz Festival in Vermillion, South Dakota, playing “The Big Band Theory”; “Tomorrow’s Memories” and “Black Ops”. Sam Cross, alto saxophone, and Kolten Settje, tenor saxophone, received soloist awards. Jazz Band members are: alto saxophones: Sam Cross, Maddy Campbell, & Kennedy Hall; tenor saxophones: Kolten Settje, Mara Droppers, Yasmine Miranda; bari saxophone: Emma Sohler; trumpets: Koby Detlefsen, Christian Staples, Jenna Gewock, & Dreyson Puppe; trombones: Preston Rose, Paul Allison, & Walker Stone; rhythm section: Derek Nelson, Craig Karnes, Jolynn Kinkaid, Alyza Leonard & Faith Galvin.
On Monday, March 24th, the LCC Jazz Band received third place along with a third place trophy at the Northeast Jazz Festival on the Northeast Community College Campus. First place went to Stanton Community Schools, second place Osmond Community School and fourth place Pender Public School. There were eight additional schools competing in this category for a total of twelve schools. Sam Cross and Kolten Settje had judge's recommendations as award candidates at the Northeast Jazz Festival. The LCC Jazz Band received a Superior Rating.
On Saturday, March 29th, LCC Band members; Alex Allison, Owen Johnson, Foster Stone, Caden Barnes, Emma Sohler, Mara Droppers, Faith Galvin, Preston Rose, Paul Allison, Derek Nelson, Christian Staples, Sam Cross, performed at the state band festival held in Kearney. The following received special recognition:

📢 Northeast Community College is offering a Driver’s Education course locally at Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School! This is a great opportunity for students ages 14-17 to gain essential driving skills and qualify for a Provisional Operator’s Permit (POP).

LCC sent three students to the State Speech contest in Kearney today. Congratulations to Kennedy Hall who competed in extemporaneous
and Informative; Kolten Settje who competed in Humorous; and Emma Sohler and Kolten who competed in Duet. Congratulations to Kolten Settje and Emma Sohler who came home with a 3rd place finish. Job well done!


Just a friendly reminder: The LCC PTO Middle School Talent Show is this Friday night in the Legacy Gym starting at 7:00 PM. There are a lot of great acts planned for the event! Entrance will be the Gymnasium sign/doors that night - hope to see you there!

Our 7th and 8th graders enjoyed a fun and educational afternoon learning more about careers at our Middle School Career Fair. A big thank you to all those who were able to come and talk with our students and share about their individual careers.









Congratulations to our six middle school students who won our One School, One Book trivia contest. This year our students were given the challenge of reading the book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. For winning, each student received a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card.

Congratulations to our Middle School Lego League teams on their outstanding performances at the State Lego League Competition in Lincoln over the weekend. Our 6th grade team was one of 11 teams nominated for a Nebraska Innovation Award, and they also took home an Engineering Excellence Award. Congratulations to both teams on a great season!
